What changed in Coado, written for the people who brew with it.

Bags, You, and Insights are a little clearer.

The You tab is a little more organized

There is less to read on You. Each row is the name, so the list is easier to scan.

  • The description under each name is gone.
  • The rows are the same height.

Water on the default Clever recipe

The Clever recipe you get by default now shows how much water to add. The other Clever recipes already did.

  • The Add water step shows the amount in grams.
  • That amount is the water already set on the recipe.

Your logged brews on Insights

Insights was rebuilt around the brews you have actually logged.

  • A card says what share of your cups sat outside the peak window, and what to try on the next bag.
  • Bean cards show the bag name and photo.
  • The photo behind the name is a little soft, so the name stays easy to read.
  • Method dots sit on the method you actually brewed.
  • Tap a card to open it.

Roast date on the bag

If a bag has a roast date, you can see whether the coffee is still resting, in its peak, or past it.

  • Today is marked on that line, with the day count.
  • If you set the bag to Frozen, the days stop counting until it comes out of the freezer.

Pre-ground coffee on a bag

You can mark a bag as pre-ground. Brewing that bag no longer asks for a grinder or a grind size.

  • Whole bean and Pre-ground are choices on the bag.
  • Grind finer and grind coarser advice stays off for a pre-ground bag.

The plus button names the next step

Tap + and choose Start a brew, Log a cup, Add a bag, or Brew again.

  • Start a brew opens setup so you pick a method and recipe.
  • Log a cup is for a cup that already happened, without the timer.
  • Add a bag is in that same list when you restock.
  • Brew again shows up when your last cup is still on the phone.

More brewers are ready in Setup

Setup now includes more of the brewers people keep on the counter, with recipes and guided steps to match.

  • Search Setup for your brewer, then add it to the gear you own.
  • Start brew uses instructions made for that brewer, including valves, cloth filters, siphons, and no-bypass brewers.
  • The catalog has more recipes for these brewers, with the dose, pours, and timing ready to follow.
  • Recipe names, tips, and steps now follow your chosen language across the full catalog.

Send a recipe in a message

Share on the recipe page makes a link your friend can open in Coado.

  • The share control sits next to the bookmark.
  • A catalog recipe opens as that same recipe.
  • A recipe you wrote or changed is a copy. They can brew it, then save it if they want.
  • Anyone with the link can open that recipe.

Grams, Celsius, and the clock are separate

In Settings, weight, temperature, and clock each have their own switch.

  • Keep grams and still use Fahrenheit, if that is how you brew.
  • The clock can be 24-hour (20:49) or 12-hour (8:49pm).
  • Overnight recipes use that clock for when the steep is ready.

A new cup on the home screen

The Coado tile is a dark cup on orange, so it is easier to find when you go to brew.

  • On the phone, the icon is that cup, with a little steam above it.
  • The same mark is on the Watch and on coado.app.
  • Nothing else about brewing changed. The tile is just easier to spot.

If you own it, add it from the recipe

When a catalog recipe uses a device that is not in Setup, the page asks if you own it.

  • The line above the button names the device, like Do you own a Switch?
  • Add to your setup puts that device in Setup.
  • After that, you can brew the recipe.

The bookmark fills when it is already yours

Save a catalog recipe as it is, and the bookmark fills so you do not save it twice.

  • A filled bookmark means this exact recipe is on My recipes.
  • Change the water, ratio, or steps, and it is a new recipe. The outline stays.
  • An outline bookmark still saves a copy to My recipes.

Write the recipe you already know

Add a recipe from your notes, a café, or a brew you already make. It lives on My recipes.

  • Add a recipe on Home and on My recipes, even when the shelf is empty.
  • Pick a method first. The editor starts from that method's usual numbers and steps.
  • Change the pours, waits, and water, then save it as yours.
  • Grind is Extra fine through Extra coarse. Same seven sizes on catalog recipes.

Advanced is how you start a brew

Dose, ratio, temperature, and grind are on the setup screen unless you switch to Simple.

  • Temperature uses the same stepper as coffee and water.
  • Simple mode is still there if you want fewer fields.
  • Brew step notifications stay off until you turn them on in Settings.

The recipe page talks like a kitchen

Under the steps, Tips is a short note from the source. Internal catalog wording stays out of the way.

  • The line under the title is the short description.
  • Tips is setup or how to brew, not audit language.
  • When amounts vary, it says start in the range and adjust to your pot.

Origin suggestions that match the bag

After you pick a country, Origin offers more place names people actually print on bags.

  • Suggestions are a longer list of regions, not only the 25 stamp names.
  • Choosing Country first narrows what you see.
  • You can still type a name that is not in the list.
  • Saving a place keeps that name. Passport stamps stay the same.

Start on the phone. Follow it on your wrist.

The phone still starts the brew. Apple Watch shows the step you are on, the time, and the same button.

  • Open Coado on Apple Watch while a brew is running.
  • You see the recipe, the step, and how long it has been going.
  • Pause, Continue, Resume, or Finish from the wrist. Same words as the phone.
  • The Watch taps when the step changes.
  • When nothing is brewing, it says Start a brew on iPhone.

Time lives on the step you are on

Every brew now shares one list you work through. If a step is timed, the clock is right there.

  • The step you are on is large. The next ones wait underneath.
  • A timed step shows how long it should take next to the name.
  • The clock appears only while that step is running.
  • Next keeps the brew time. It does not start over from zero.

When there is no timer, brew is a stack of cards

Recipes that never start a clock drop the empty circle. Add a phin in Setup and Vietnamese drinks are ready to brew.

  • When a recipe has no timer, brew is a stack of cards. Next slides the top one away.
  • Championship AeroPress recipes and espresso drinks like Einspänner now tick where they should.
  • Add a phin (Vietnamese) in Setup and Cà phê sữa đá and egg coffee show Brew.
  • Kopi O, Kopi C, and Cafézinho match the gear you already own.

From the bag, start the brew

The bag page keeps one job. Use for brewing opens a new brew with that coffee already chosen.

  • Use for brewing is the one button on a bag. It starts a new brew with that bag selected.
  • Edit, compare, experiment, and remove sit under More.
  • On Journal, when a day has two cups, Compare brews is in the + menu.

Home stays short. Empty bags step aside.

The path from bag to brew is a little clearer, and the shelf does not pretend a finished bag is still in play.

  • New brew says Set recipe, then you set the dose before Brew Now.
  • Tap a method, bag, or grinder and you can see the choice before it slides to the front.
  • The main button sits at the bottom, closest to your thumb.
  • A bag at 0 g moves under Finished bags. Tap it when you restock.
  • My recipes live under You. Home shows the three you brew most.

Coado 1.0 is on your phone

The brew journal and guided timer are ready to live on the counter. No account to start.

  • On the App Store and Google Play.
  • Brew, log, and save your own recipes. The kitchen stays free.
  • Optional Coado+ for insights, the encyclopedia, and backup across phones.
  • Delete your cloud account in Settings if you signed in. Brewing still works.

A calmer app, in your language

August was for the feel of the thing. Dark mornings, eight languages, and a site that matches the cup.

  • The app follows your phone: light, dark, or whatever the system is set to.
  • Eight languages, from the first open to the last note.
  • Buttons and type match. Less noise at the counter.
  • coado.app is live, with a privacy page you can actually read.

See the pattern in the cups you already brew

Coado+ is there if you want more later. Brewing never needs an account.

  • Optional backup so a new phone still has your journal.
  • A map of how your brews taste, and which bags earn a reorder.
  • Espresso notes sit on a simple chart. You still write the numbers.
  • Open a variety and see a moment of the real page. Plus is there if you want the rest.

Recipes worth repeating, bags that fill themselves in

A catalog of sourced recipes, plus the ones you save. Your coffee is ready when you are.

  • Proven recipes by method, from V60 to espresso.
  • Save a recipe, change a step, keep it as yours.
  • Scan a barcode or paste the roaster link. The bag fills in.
  • The bag you just added already suggests how to brew it.

Brew a great cup. Then brew it again.

The timer walks the pours. The journal keeps what worked.

  • Open the app and brew without making an account.
  • Bloom, pour, and swirl get called while you watch the cup.
  • Rating, notes, a photo, and how it tasted stay with that setup.
